Pineapple Brown Sugar Mississippi Lil’ Smokies Bites: The Ultimate Party Appetizer Experience Masterpiece

Sweet and savory bite-sized sausages glazed in a sticky pineapple brown sugar sauce, perfect for any gathering or game day celebration.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 packages (14 oz each) of Lil’ Smokies sausages
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup pineapple juice
  • 1 cup pineapple chunks (fresh or canned)
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for a kick)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Glaze – In a medium bowl, combine the brown sugar, pineapple juice, soy sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using). Whisk thoroughly until the sugar is completely dissolved and all ingredients are well incorporated. This sweet and tangy glaze will caramelize beautifully around the sausages during cooking.
  2. Combine Ingredients – Place the Lil’ Smokies sausages in your slow cooker and pour the prepared pineapple glaze over them. Gently stir everything together to ensure each sausage is evenly coated with the delicious mixture. The sausages should be completely submerged in the glaze for maximum flavor absorption.
  3. Add Pineapple – Add the pineapple chunks to the slow cooker, distributing them evenly throughout the sausages and glaze. The pineapple adds a burst of tropical sweetness and a pleasant textural contrast to the savory sausages.
  4. Slow Cook – Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 4 hours or on high for 2 hours. Stir occasionally to ensure even cooking and glazing. The mixture is ready when the sausages are heated through and the sauce has thickened to a bubbly, sticky consistency.
  5. Serve – Transfer the glazed Lil’ Smokies and pineapple chunks to a serving dish, providing toothpicks for easy handling. These savory-sweet bites can be kept warm in the slow cooker on the warm setting during your event.

Notes

  • For a thicker glaze, remove the lid during the last 30 minutes of cooking to allow some liquid to evaporate.
  • Add 1-2 tablespoons of bourbon or whiskey to the glaze for an adult version with deeper flavor.
  • You can substitute honey for half of the brown sugar for a different sweetness profile.
  • These can be made ahead and reheated in a slow cooker or microwave when ready to serve.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and make a delicious addition to fried rice.
