Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 45 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup beef broth or water
  • 1/4 cup milk (optional, for creaminess)
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven & Prepare Baking Dish
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or olive oil.
  2. Cook Ground Beef Mixture
    • Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
    • Add 1 lb ground beef and cook until browned (5-7 minutes). Drain excess fat if necessary.
    • Stir in chopped onion and minced garlic. Cook for another 3-4 minutes until the onion is soft and translucent.
  3. Layer the Casserole
    • Spread the cooked ground beef mixture evenly in the bottom of the greased baking dish.
    • Layer the thinly sliced potatoes on top of the beef.
    • Season with salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and paprika.
  4. Add Cheese & Liquid
    • Sprinkle 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar and 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the potatoes.
    • Pour 1/2 cup beef broth (or water) around the edges to keep the potatoes moist while baking.
    • If you prefer a creamier texture, drizzle 1/4 cup milk over the potatoes.
  5. Bake the Casserole
    • Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
    • Remove the foil and bake for another 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  6. Garnish and Serve
    • Sprinkle with fresh parsley if desired.
    • Serve hot and enjoy this comforting meal!
