- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 4–5 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup beef broth or water
- 1/4 cup milk (optional, for creaminess)
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven & Prepare Baking Dish
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or olive oil.
- Cook Ground Beef Mixture
- Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add 1 lb ground beef and cook until browned (5-7 minutes). Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Stir in chopped onion and minced garlic. Cook for another 3-4 minutes until the onion is soft and translucent.
- Layer the Casserole
- Spread the cooked ground beef mixture evenly in the bottom of the greased baking dish.
- Layer the thinly sliced potatoes on top of the beef.
- Season with salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and paprika.
- Add Cheese & Liquid
- Sprinkle 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar and 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the potatoes.
- Pour 1/2 cup beef broth (or water) around the edges to keep the potatoes moist while baking.
- If you prefer a creamier texture, drizzle 1/4 cup milk over the potatoes.
- Bake the Casserole
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for another 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Garnish and Serve
- Sprinkle with fresh parsley if desired.
- Serve hot and enjoy this comforting meal!
