Ingredients
- 16 ounces meatballs (frozen or homemade)
- 1 can pineapple chunks with juice
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 18 ounces BBQ sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
- Prepare the Crockpot: Place the frozen or thawed meatballs in the bottom of your crockpot, spreading them out evenly to ensure they cook properly.
- Add Fruit and Sauce: Pour the entire can of pineapple chunks with juice over the meatballs, then add all of the BBQ sauce. The pineapple juice will help tenderize the meatballs while adding a tropical sweetness to balance the tangy barbecue flavor.
- Season the Mixture: Sprinkle the brown sugar and garlic powder over everything in the crockpot. Use a large spoon to gently stir all ingredients together until the meatballs are evenly coated with the sauce mixture.
- Cook Until Done: Cover the crockpot with its lid and cook on high for 2 hours or on low for 4 hours. The meatballs should be heated through and the sauce should thicken slightly.
Notes
- For a spicier version, add ½ teaspoon of red pepper flakes or a tablespoon of sriracha sauce.
- These meatballs can be served as an appetizer with toothpicks or as a main dish over rice.
- Use a liner in your crockpot for easier cleanup.
- If using homemade meatballs, make sure they are fully cooked before adding to the crockpot.
- For a healthier version, try using turkey meatballs and a low-sugar BBQ sauce.
