Chocolate Bird Nest Treats: The Ultimate No-Bake Easter Cereal with Peanut-Butter Excellence

A delightful and easy no-bake Easter treat! These crunchy nests are made with chocolate cereal bound together by a silky mixture of milk chocolate and creamy peanut butter. Topped with iconic pastel mini eggs, they make a perfect centerpiece for spring celebrations or a quick classroom treat.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 12-15 nests 1x

Ingredients

  • Cereal Base: 4 cups Cocoa Rice Krispies cereal

  • Binding Agents: 1 cup milk chocolate chips, ½ cup creamy peanut butter

  • Decoration: 1 cup Cadbury Mini Eggs (or similar pastel chocolate eggs)

  • Equipment: Parchment paper, microwave-safe bowl

Instructions

  • Prep: Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or wax paper.

  • Melt: In a microwave-safe glass bowl, combine chocolate chips and peanut butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until the mixture is smooth and glossy.

  • Mix: Place the cereal in a large bowl. Pour the melted chocolate mixture over the top and stir gently until every piece of cereal is coated.

  • Shape: Scoop roughly 2 tablespoons of the mixture onto the baking sheet. Use the back of a spoon (or greased fingers) to press an indentation into the center, forming a “nest” shape.

  • Decorate: While the chocolate is still wet, place 2–3 mini chocolate eggs into the center of each nest.

  • Set: Let the nests sit at room temperature for 1 hour, or pop them in the fridge for 20–30 minutes to firm up quickly.

Notes

  • Allergy Swap: If you need to make these nut-free, swap the peanut butter for Sunflower Seed Butter (SunButter) or use melted marshmallows (Rice Krispie Treat style) with cocoa powder.

  • Storage: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. If your kitchen is very warm, keep them in the fridge so they don’t soften.

  • Variations: You can use shredded coconut (dyed green with food coloring) inside the nest for “grass” before adding the eggs!
