Ingredients
Scale
- 8 pork or beef sausages
- 1/4 cup honey
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). This temperature is ideal for cooking sausages as it allows them to cook through while developing a nice golden color on the outside. Make sure your oven is fully preheated before adding the sausages.
- Prepare the Sausages
- Place the sausages in a rectangular aluminum foil container or a baking dish. Arrange them in a single layer with some space between each sausage to ensure even cooking and proper caramelization.
- Make the Glaze
- In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, olive oil, minced garlic, and black pepper until well combined. This mixture creates a perfect balance of sweet, savory, and aromatic flavors that will caramelize beautifully during baking.
- Coat the Sausages
- Pour the honey garlic mixture over the sausages, ensuring they are well coated on all sides. Use a spoon or brush to distribute the glaze evenly if needed.
- Add Onions
- Scatter the thinly sliced onions among the sausages. The onions will cook down and caramelize in the sweet and savory glaze, adding another layer of flavor to the dish.
- Bake
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, turning the sausages halfway through the cooking time. This ensures even browning and helps the glaze coat the sausages perfectly. Cook until the sausages are golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature of 160°F/71°C).
- Rest and Garnish
- Remove from the oven and let them rest for a few minutes before serving. This allows the juices to redistribute within the sausages. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired, which adds a fresh pop of color and flavor.
Notes
- For a spicier version, add 1-2 teaspoons of red pepper flakes or sriracha to the glaze.
- You can add vegetables like bell peppers or cherry tomatoes to the baking dish for a more complete meal.
- This recipe works well with any type of sausage, including chicken, turkey, or plant-based alternatives.
- Leftover sausages can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- The glaze can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to a week.
